I have now used Firefox 2.0.0.2 and Opera 9.1 and downloaded the DVD Flick file. It worked every time (without any extra download manager), I get a EXE file that is 7 591 464 large.
I also tried the same with the Firefox and Free Download Manager 2.1 It did not work, I got a file called "downloading.php" the file was 16 947 large
So my advice is to NOT use the Free Download Manager when you download from Sourceforge.
Or
You could try another download manager that maybe works better.

simtel sucks mountains
simtel downloads a downloader which you then run to download the real download, it puts the uppacked files in c:\downloads\simtel ..without asking, it just assumes there is a c: and it is your boot drive which is annoying if you don't and it isn't got a 10k app? download a 355k downloader first
and don't you just love the ads? ads on the page, ads in the downloader, switch browser to ads after download
as such..isn't any simtel download really an unavoidable autoupdate adware ? :-) :-)
the .zip.exe worries this system it triggers av warning which is annoying if it quarantines your download and the whole thing just annoys some items in my context menu
rename the .zip.exe to .exe
then the downloader needs to be allowed to contact simtel
When downloading it display a bunch of ads. After download and unpack it then attempts to run with whatever association it thinks fit which means in this case it runs zip but can lead to some strange behaviour. Not that running zip is much use, you need to unzip it first, or know that the recent files entry is a hint about where zip got it from :-(
If you are _really_ quick or have a _really_ slow connection you may get the chance to turn this 'option' off before it completes, if not all you get is 'about', but it doesn't tell you where it put the download.
Did I mention that simtel sucks mountains?
